changes from DLA to PIP was created by michael
Hello
Can i ask a question, how will the change over from DLA to PIP affect children??
Will they continue to receive DLA until their 16th birthday and then be assessed for a PIP or will they be assessed as per everyone no matter what age they are?.
Our child has cerebral palsy (spastic hemipligia , periventricular leucomalacia (PVL) and mild ataxia.) he is nearly 4 years old and due to enter mainstream school in September we have to go through a lot of getting the right people in place so his transition goes as smoothly as possible
He has delayed speech and needs constant supervision as he gets unbalanced due to the hemipligia along with other things as you can imagine,
We have filled out the DLA claim pack with your help in the members section and still waiting on a decision it has been 3 months since we received the pack and filled it in within the deadline and DWP have received it but we are still waiting for an outcome.
any help or advice would be greatly received.
yours sincerely
Michael

We have an update on PIP in the DLA section of the Members area that it might be worth you reading.

Our understanding at the moment is that children will not be immediately moved to PIP with the bulk of DLA claimants, however, it is not clear whether they will be subsequently transfered or whether this will be done when they move to an adult claim.

Sorry we can't be more precise.
