Wrag and other groups was created by confused13
Hi all
I have been lurking and reading posts over the last few weeks, I am as my name suggests still a little confused. Could I ask some questions.
I am on IB and higher rate DLA I had a medical about 4 and half yrs ago It said i scored enough. It says on my DLA "indefinetly" I cant find any letter about the IB but I am confident the medical i had covered both(?) will i be transfered over to ESA? I scored over 30 points on the test on this website which group would i go in? would i have to attend these work related interviews? if I supplied medical letters would i still have to go for an interview/medical?
I am being treated for various illnesses and am still under 4 different specialists in 3 different hospitals I am also seeing a NHS phycologist. I take numerous medicines and am in line to have more surgery. Any advice is very welcome.
Thanks.

Everybody currently receiving IB, SDA and Income Support becuase of ill heatlh, will be transferred over the next three years to ESA, unless they will reach State Reitrement Age before April 2014.
There are two groups for ESA claimants that have been found unfit for work. The first is the Work Related Activity Group and the other is the Support Group.
To be placed in the WRAG you will need to score 15 points or more across all of the ESA tests, so your scoring 30 points in our online test would suggest this would be the group you would be placed in.
To be placed in the Support Group, you need to meet one or more of the SG criteria, there is a list of these in our Understanding ESA guide in the Members area.
If you are in the WRAG, then you will be required to attend up to six Work Focussed Interviews. The first is usually during the Assessment phase and the remaining five are usually one to two months apart.
It is possible to avoid the medical if there is sufficient evidence available to the DWP to decide that you meet the criteria for one or other of the groups, however, this is only the case for about 5-10% of applicants, so for the vast majority, the medical is required.
The WFIs are also mandatory for ESA although they can be deferred and in some cases held over the phone by orior arrangement.
If you have further questions, please come back to the forum.
