DLA Claim looked at again was created by Mara Ox
Hi
could someone give me some advice. I completed a Dla form online asking for my husbands claim to be looked at again following a deterioation in his condiiton. I have not heard anything about this and was sent 9 weeks ago. I have just been told By DLA helpline that any higher award given will only be backdated to the date I sent the form to them (online)Even though it shows online that I had downloaded and started this claim back In January. When the claim is sent in the post is it not dated and the claim paid back to that date?I have been told that this only applies to new claims? and what about the three months that claims are backdated my husband has been worse for nearly a year now, so surely this should be backdated. I am waiting for someone to call me back so advice on this would be very helpful
Thankyou.

Hi Mara

They will only backdate your claim to the date you put on the application unless you rung for the application and they stamp the date you requested it (please correct me if i am wrong mods) If the deteriation started a year ago they will say you should have contacted them then. My claim was up for renewal last July and i was MRC, i sent my form off in May and my award was increased to HRC and this was paid from the date i sent my forms back to them. Had they reduced my award then that would also have been from May and not July the renewal date. Hope this helps!!

Mm :) xx
