Keeping my Benefits was created by philipburdekin
Hi everyone, I was wondering (worrying) (stressing) as I am on higher rate care and higher rate mobility also Incap Ben, what do the new rules mean for me? are my benefits safe? might be a silly question but I really dont know any answers.

That's a very big question.
At some point, you will be assessed for ESA. This should happen at some point over the next three years. The criteria for ESA are different from the criteria for IB and are about to change again.
At present, your DLA should be safe, however, the government plans to replace it in 2014 with a new benefit called PIP, which will be harder to get. (The government says it wants to cut its expenditure on DLA by 20%.)

I was told that my DLA is for an indefinate peripod as from April 2010

I read a form on here a short while ago and it said something like , I would be exempt from the new medical as Im on high rate care allowence is this true?

The new laws that the government proposes to bring in will override any existing provisions in relation to your DLA, so that the fact that it has been granted on an indefinite basis will not stop your DLA being stopped when DLA ceases to exist, and the criteria for PIP will be different.
Being in receipt of DLA care at any rate does not exempt you from a medical for ESA.
