Tribunal doctors was created by paul
Hi folks.
In 2003 and 2005, concern and mention was made of the fact that tribunal doctors were compromising themselves by also being in the pay of the D.W.P as E.M.P's.
As my case is next week can anyone tell me of the current position of Tribunal doctors?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Although not all of the doctors who sit on appeal tribunals are EMPs, those that are EMPs are paid by the DWP for their services by way of remuneration (via the taxpayer) to the subcontractor Atos Healthcare, who have responsibility for the administration of all DWP medical services on their behalf.

Sorry, but I only get half your answer. Surely they can't be paid by D.W.P whilst working for another employer. (the Tribunals Service).

I am unaware of what EMPs receive by way of payment from The Tribunals Service for sitting on appeal tribunal hearings. Our tribunal expert Jim may have been able to give this information, but unfortunately he is not around at the present time.
It is my understanding however that the DWP pay a significant payment to the TS for the conduct of the appeal hearings, so it may be the case that the EMP receives no payment directly from the TS for his/her services?
