Some questions please if anyone knows the answers I would be greatful

1, Are ATOS HCP required to be qualified in ndisability assesment?

If so is it by ATOS or something like Diploma in Disability Assessment Medicine (DDAM)which also requires CPD.

2, What if any clinical requirement is the Dr to undertake in a medical ie should they test blood pressure, check your heart / chest check your pulse / heart rate?

If a dr states in his report that your heart / chest are fine surely he should have done a clinical check.

3, The info in the guides on here "Guidance for Examining Medical Practitioners" seems a little messed up / re written etc is it useable or there is there a newer source for this info?

4, Is there soemwhere I can get info on exactly what the HCP is supposed to do, a DWP handbook or similar they are supposed to go by?

Thanks again for any help anyone can give me, looks like I have quite a fight ahead still......

Thanks Jackie, I hope it works out well for you.

Just really looking for clarification if they need to do these things ie blood pressure, pulse etc as I have read or intrepted somewhere that they should do. I have a long list for my Atos complaint and I really wish to make it as full as I possibly can. I think there was so much that was done wrong, things done not the way the DWP expects and written up not how the DWP expects.

Maybe some one will be able to clarify or point in the way of some reading resource.

Good luck with your claim Jackie and thanks.

Hi John

The ATOS guidance for HCPs are usually kept up-to-date and published on this site whenever they become available.

HCPs are only required to take blood pressure or pulse readings if it's relevant to the claimant's condition, and I would expect that they should be medically trained and qualified to do that.

You can probably find links to information regarding ATOS HCP training by searching this site, as I can recall discussions about this subject. HCPs are mainly trained to carry out the test to determine if the claimant qualifies for the relevant benefit. They often have little knowledge of the disability of the claimant.

Good luck

Derek
