DLA and INCAPACITY BENEFIT was created by emma flavell
Would like some advice please. My husband has learning difficulties and autism, I have asked for a re-assessment of his dla as he is needing much more care now both day and night.

In 2008 he had a medical assessment though incapacity benefit and I asked for a copy of the report.

Would it be 'a good idea' to send a copy of the Incapacity assessment medical report with the dla form, which also states his disabilities and what the doctor's results were - as more evidence of his disabilities.

Or will they already have access to the report? Are they linked dla & ib? Would they cross reference?

Thanks

The DWP will have a copy of the report, but the DLA decision maker may not refer to it. It is open to you to send a copy of the report but it will only form part of the picture. You will need to show why it is relevant and how it applies now. For example, if it shows his learning difficulties and some of his care needs arise out of his learning difficulties, then the report would be a good starting point, but you'd still want evidence of his current needs.
