Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Me again. Basildon just phoned me back and said that it is the law that they have taken money off my allowance so that I do not get the premium and my money stays the same. I feel a bit better having had a good cry!
I would like to ask if I can claim for my husband as being my carer and, if so, would this reduce my allowance. Also if I claimed DLA would this affect my allowance.
When I first claimed for ESA I was told by at least three people that I should be claiming for these but nothing ever came of it.
Thank you.

Hi bendog
I think you should ask them to give you a written explanation and breakdown of the decision. It's not sufficient to simply say 'it is the law'.
If you are still unsure if their decision is correct you can get advice from CAB.
Regards
Derek

One thing you can do is to go to the turn2us website and feed your details into their benefits calculator and see what it comes up with. It should pick up on whether you're getting all that you're entitled to. However this is as well as Derek's advice, not instead of it.
