Hello all,
Last Friday I had my PtoW interview. The woman seemed sympathetic to my plight but keen to talk work. I went with the attitude that I would be open, listen carefully and not commit to anything. One of the first things that she said to me and wanted to impress on me was that "we" would look at things with an attitude of "what we CAN do" not "what we can't do". Alright. She said that there we all sorts of resources that she could put in place for me to work say, 2 hours one day per week. (I estimate JC/DWP would have to put out a minimum of £100.00 per work day for me to earn £16.00 per working day) I asked her two times about loss of benefits. She said twice, that I would not lose any of my benefits - the second time I made sure she was looking me in the eye.

I have just begun to read the Permitted Work document and have to re-read just the first 3 pages over and over. BUT, with all the criteria of Permitted Work in mind, how can she promise me anything at this point? I was also surprised when she said I was already on IB!! I have been sent a letter telling me that I am currently on IS which will end this month and do already have an application in for ESA.

I am losing trust already. The interviewer says one thing and my experience so far and your helpful documents say another. Could you please shed some light on this?

I have diagnosed severe degeneration of the cervical and lumbar spine, right and left total hip replacements, mixed-sensation neuropathy in both feet and hands and in this last year have developed claw toe.
I'm 52 and have been dealing with these problems since my late 30s but have just applied for help this last year.

Thanks everyone.cmarie510

Hi,

As far as the benefits go, ask them to do a better-off calculation with your two hours permitted work included and give you a printout showing exactly what you would have coming in. If they can't do this then be very cautious.

I would also be curious about who exactly is going to hire anyone for two hours a week?

Good luck,

Steve

Thank you Steve; I will ask them to do the better-off calculation and ask for a print out! I am so grateful for your knowledge and help. cmarie510.
