Hi to you all, I have to renew my blue badge this year I have filled in the forms sent them to my council, I got a phone call today from the council asking about my DLA. I ticked that I get higher rate DLA but did not send my letter in to confirm it. I can send you the letter I got in 1994 which states I get it for life I told her, she said no it has to be less than a year old and I would have to phone DWP for them to send me a letter confirming it. I am on the higher rate of DLA. So I did this and they are sending me the letter. What you betting that they send me the forms to re-assess my DLA claim?
Regards Ian
Hi Ian,
I think you are worrying unnecessarily. From experience of both my and Jim's Blue Badge, in the past we always had to send in proof of entitlement to DLA which was no more than a year old, and showing our current address.
Due to increasing ill health we've had to move a few times, and have 'phoned the DLA Unit in Blackpool to ask for confirmation of our DLA HRM award, and it's always come back within a few days.
The DWP can only re-assess your DLA if you're mobility needs have decreased.
As Gareth, rightly said you could have used the DWP letter advising you of the most recent rise in DLA amounts, or perhaps you haven't received that yet. Last year we never received ours until the third week in April 2010.
Best wishes.
Pat
