Tell them you are recording their call to you, many Dect phones have that facility nowadays

One thing I've never done is to put my phone number on any form that would be looked at by the DWP, in all cases my social worker's number is on there, not mine. Plus, I've got very bad tinitus so I doubt I'd hear them properly, great excuse!

I was so ill 13 years ago I slept in the loo for 2 weeks (good job we have 3 bath rooms) I even had my GP visit me there and a consultant too ... when I came out I lived on boiled white rice and appels or roast beef on white bread for months
