Carers Allowance and State Pension was created by Broll
Hi,
I'm due to receive state pension later this year and I understand that the carers allowance I'm currently receiving will then stop.
Does any body know if carers allowance will continue if I defer taking up state pension for a few years?

:( I've found out a bit more from the Directgov pensions site. If you defer your state pension you normally receive an increase of about 10% pa for each year you defer. BUT if you continue to receive carers allowance this increase does not take place. I feel that this is discrimination against the disabled and does not provide any "reward" for the carers. Luckily most carers will continue their caring role anyway paid or unpaid.

its nothing to do with disability would be there point of view the person getting CA is not the disabled person

that said I agree with your point that it does not provided any reward which there should be for the person doing the caring as the service being provided by you on CA is very cheap to the govenment at £55.55 per week :)

Hi

You really need a one to one for personal advice.
From my knowledge deferring a pension can be counted as Notional Income. Basically income you could receive but prefer not to. This can be estimated and taken off any benefit.
