Points System was created by marie4543
Hi I am just trying to complete my ESA50. Just looking at my scoring on the ESA56 from last time I was given 30 points in the Physical Activity part from both the Health Care Professional and the Decision maker. How is it possible to get 30 points but still end up in the WRAG group. I am confused!!!

Which group you are put in is not based on how many points you get.

Hi Marie

Please read page 25 of the Understanding ESA guide, which will answer your question.

Incidentally, I haven't come across an ESA56. Is that the decision maker's report or scoresheet?

Sorry, I must have misunderstood. How can a person with high points not be put into the support group and maybe another person with less points does? I must admit, I do find most of ESA confusing so it probably is me and not the 'brain fog'.

I'm no expert but as I understand it you could be awarded nine points for lots of things and end up with a gazillion in total but you'll still be placed in the WRAG. I think you have to score fifteen points on one descriptor to qualify for the Support group - eg do you need physical help from another person to get out of a chair and sit down in one next to it? If you do require that much help you score fifteen points and qualify for the Support group so it looks incredibly unfair - gazillion points v fifteen - but I think that's how it's measured.

You are more or less correct waltwhitman, except you don't actually score any points for the LCWRA (support group) test. If you satisfy any one of the descriptors you qualify for the support group.

You also have to pass both tests to qualify for the support group, but it's hard to imagine a situation where somebody meets the LCWRA test, but fails to score 15 points in the LCWA.
