Hi, I just wanted to ask, apologies if this appears to be silly question but it has just come into my head after reading latest members news.

Basically what I would like to know is if you are on High Rate DLA for mobility and Middle Rate Care, also long term IB and receipt of IS and obviously exempt from medicals, does this mean when these new transfers from IB to ESA happens will I no longer be exempt from medicals, sorry if im not making sense Im a bit confused myself but hope someone understands what im trying to say... many thanks for any answers given to me.....

The are reasons why you could be exempted from the ESA medical, but the criteria are very specific and not related to any other benefits you might be receiving.

At the very least you will be asked to complete an ESA50, which whilst being roughly equivalent to the IB50, does have a number of significant differences.

Once returned, ATOS will decide whether you meet any of the exemption criteria, and if not, you will be invited to a Work Capability Assessment (the ESA medical).

If you want more specific information you should have a look at the Understanding ESA document in the Members area.
