Help! Too ill to attend medical was created by Fizz
I have got a letter calling me for a medical in just under 2 weeks. I am too ill to travel across London to a medical. I suffer from agoraphobia and continence problems amongst other things.

Will they cut off my benefits immediately when I fail to show up (I am in the support group and get DLA). I wrote on the form that I needed a home visit. What else can I do?

I am feeling very stressed. Any advice welcome.

You need to contact ATOS as soon as possible to explain the situation, you should also speak to your doctor as you will undoubtedly need their support as well.

If you fail to attend, the normal procedure is that they will write to you asking for an explanation. Subject to your reply, they may stop your benefit.

Thanks Gordon. I will do that.

All I will be able to put in the letter is that I have agoraphobia and incontinence so cant travel across London. Is that likely to be enough to stop me getting my benefit cut off?

I havent been able to go into a shop in 2 years. I have explained all of this in the form but it looks like they didnt bother to read any of it :(

That's why you will need support from your GP and any other medical professionals you see, they need to corroborate and emphasise the impact that such a trip would have on you.
