SDP or SDA? was created by penthesili
As some of you are aware there's a form waiting for my care manager to fill in concerning Income Support. In it it asks if I'm receiving Severe Disability Allowance and/or Severe Disability Premium. Now, as I understand it, you get Severe Disability Premium if you get DLA High Rate Mobility and Middle Rate Care and it's tacked onto your Income Support under the heading 'Because you are severely disabled', so I'm guessing the amount stated next to it is for that. However, I have no idea if this is the same thing as 'Severe Disability Allowance', and if so how much would that be and where would it be listed. Can some kind person set me in the right direction, I've been racking my addled brain all over the weekend about this, and don't want to end up loosing out if I get it wrong.
Thanks in advance.

Could it be Severe Disablement Allowance? That was the predecessor to Incapacity Benefit.

It could well be, Survivor. I was on Invalidity Benefit, so pre 1995 and before Incapacity Benefit. How would this be shown on a DWP statement? Could it be 'Because you are sick or disabled', which is above the 'Because you are severely disabled'?
Thanks for your insight!

The "because you are sick or disabled" is the disability income guarantee, which basically means that if you get income support, you're deemed to need more money to live off than people who aren't sick and disabled. (With ESA, it's built into the payment structure.)
