"I believe that is me Survivor I have mentioned it on here before."
No, it was friends of mine, but the case was similar to yours. In his case, he had kidney failure requiring dialysis(which eventually killed him) and she, like your wife, has bipolar disorder.
However, it shows that neither case is a one-off.

I would think that the level of care awarded and the medical problem would be taken into account .... where someone in a wheel chair in a building with space to move round freely could make meals and help with all sort of jobs
IMO someone with a nuro problem that is such they need say middle care, I cant see how they could manage to support someone, and if they did IMo that could risk there claim

If we suppose that you get middle rate care on the basis of needing, say, help with getting out of bed, washing, toiletting and with physically eating etc., you might still be able to provide many hours of help to someone who was mentally ill, nagging them to eat, to wash, to dress, to take their medication etc. If they had problems with concentration, you could watch over them whilst they cooked, prompting them. So they might be entitled to MRC too.

As for the following comment that is exactly how it is.
Though it may seem I might have made a mistake for mentioning it. If there are those who could be picking up on it and looking at it from another perspective in possible ignorance of the facts.

Nothing to apologise for. It could just as easily have been your case that I thought of, I just happened to think of my friend first.

Thanx for all your replies. I would be ok about giving up my Carer's allowance dependent on what rate DLA I am awarded(if any and when) but in the meantime I need to live and pay what bills I can so I feel stuck. Any suggestions how I can best deal with this problem?
