Send in the clowns?. was created by bluejay52
Hello everyone & moderators.
Just a stupid question.
In 2007 I was medically retired from a local authority up north- after a rather long spell of bad health,( some which is degenerative)and getting worse.ie controlled epilepsy, kidney problems, osteo&rheumatoid arthritis, back problems,,carpel tunnell,& knee joint problems(I need 2 new knee joints but I am told that im too young(58)and if I do have a operation to replace them I may die.
In 2008 I went to the jobcentre to sign on, and after looking at my letters from my employer & medical reports from hospital consultants the JC advised (after 3 hours) to apply for IB & DLA which I did-they told me that I was unemployable!
Now im in receipt of DLAa&IB.(DLA Indefinate)
after medical advisors for the DWP have reached their own conclusions.
My question is sooner or later that I will have to attend a medical,(WCA) my worry is that I may be seen by some clown who is not medically qualified-and that is a worry and that I may lose all or some of my benefits.
Can anyone advise me of what to expect?
Many thanks to all.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

If you have been looking at the forums for any length of time I am sure that you will have seen that some people have had problems with the ESA Medicals(WCA).
What you won't see is that a lot of people have sucessful medicals and are awarded the benefits they deserve,
If you look in the ESA section of the Members area you will find documents that explain the ESA process and the associated tests, they also explain the best way to take your incapacities and translate them into answers on the ESA forms.
We regularly have people reporting successful claims, so I wouldn't worry about the transfer until they actually approach you.

Its a worrying time out here but as Gordon says there ARE lots of success stories and remember we often only hear the worse cases.
I like you am very worried about the ESA scenario and in 2012, i shall lose my IB due to my husbands wage. I still do not have a successful DLA award so yes it is a time for concern but we have to try to focus on what we know at the moment. Easier said than done, i know.
Good luck anyhow
