You do not have to tell the DWP (formerly the DSS) about how many credit cards you have, and you are allowed to have a credit card if you are in receipt of benefits.

On a personal note, could I mention that if you are thinking about getting a credit card because of financial difficulties whilst on benefits, consider getting advice on the cheapest and best way to deal with financial difficulties.

Hi Saud

No, you don't have to tell the DWP how many credit cards you have. Benefit claimants are entitled to hold as many credit cards as someone who works.
