ESA advice was created by marnie
Has anyone claimed ESA without a medical especially on mental health grounds?
I've got major mental health problems(severe manic depression)and the thought of a medical is making me ill as well as not relating to anyone face to face.
Thanks
marnie

I would suggest you get some face to face advice from a suitable advisor, I think it would also be worth you contacting some of the mental health charities to see if they can help.Unfortunately, there are no grounds on which you can be exempted solely because of a mental health condition or learning difficulties, no matter how severe. All the grounds relate primarily to physical health conditions. They deal with issues such as terminal illness or contact with a notifiable disease.

Hi Marnie,
Some people are placed in the work-related activity group or the support group without having to attend a medical. It depends on the severity of the condition and on the strength of any supporting evdence.
Good luck,
Steve
