medical examination was created by lottie100
Hi All

I did place a post earlier regarding the medical examination for DLA, I suffer from SLE (lupus) and do not have a problem seeing the medical professional, but a home visit had been arranged which I had to change due to a long standing arrangement.

I wondered if anyone else has had a medical in the home changed to having to attend a medical centre? I would have thought it would be better to see how you live and function in your own home. Do they ask you to carry out various tasks there as if you were at home. I would be greatful if anyone could enlighten me, the advice sheet they sent is not very informative.

Regards and thanks in advance.

Hi lottie,

If you look in the guide to DLA and physical health you will see a whole chapter in there on what happens at a home visit medical.

As far as I am aware you still have the right to have your DLA medical at home. If you don't want to go to a medical Centre to be examined then consider asking them which regulations allow them to oblige you to attend a medical examination centre if you would prefer a home visit.

An examination at a medical centre is more likely to use the LiMA software which most people would rather avoid.

Let us know what happens.

Good luck,

Steve

Hi

Attended my medical for DLA today, medical professional was very nice, when I explained I was unable to carry out various movements they understood and did not insist I try. I have SLE (lupus) which affects joints and muscles very painful and having been put through the paces I am suffering discomfort and pain.

I would just like others on this site to know there are medical professionals who understand your condition and treat you as a person and not a case number.

I do not know if I will be awarded DLA but my visit was not as stressful as I feared.

I hope this will help others who are due a memedical and have concerns.I will post to lelet you know the out come. Thank you B/W I would not have gone this far without you.
Kind regards

Hi lottie,

It's always good to hear positive experiences of any aspect of the benefits system.

And yes, do let us know the result.

Good luck,

Steve
