medicals. was created by Faery
My husband has among other things, Asperger Syndrome. He doesn't talk to strangers. Am I going to be able to talk for him when ATOS send someone to visit?

There's official guidance on this to Atos practitioners on pp44-45 of the Guidance for Examining Health Practitioners in the members area of the DLA info.

It seems to say that people must be allowed to have carers with them and that information from carers should be taken into account, but these two things are mentioned separately and it doesn't say that they have to pay attention to what the carer chooses to say rather than what they ask the carer about.

Maybe someone else can find something more helpful.

Just found this in the Hansard document on the other board:

There are also existing arrangements for a third person to claim and act for a customer who is unable to act or communicate on their own behalf. Medical assessments will continue to take account of the severity of a customer's condition or disablement, as well as the expectation of improvement or a worsening of that condition.

Thanks to Pete17971 for posting it!
