DLA refusal was created by sandra
I stupidly completed my own DLA application form which has now been refused based on what I wrote and a report from my GP. I hardly ever go the the GP apart from repeat perscriptions. I take 36 various tablets a day and am under three specialists at the hospital. I suffer from SLE, fibrmyalgia, depression, ulcerative colitus and Sjorgrens Syndrome. So why not get a report from the hospital as I gave all the relevant contacts ?? why go to my GP . is it worth me appealing? I have to look after my in laws both who get Attendance Allowance and quite frankly are fitter than me. Any advice.

Firstly I'm really disheartened to hear of your plight...It makes you so angry when genuine people are treated so apparently cruel.

Right then, up and at em Sandra. Read up everything you can here on B&W regarding the appeal process and yes...get it in place and start the ball rolling.

I know what you mean in a caring sense. My wife (who is the fittest) looks after her Mum who lives with us. Poor lady (not my wife) Mum in Law, she is so bad I think she is now wishing it were all over and it is hard to watch loved ones go downhill like this.

So take heart; you are most definitely not alone, and there are folks here that will help you every step of the way.

Be strong, have courage and you WILL come out of this the victor!

'They' can't take ol Sandra down...now can they girl?

If you wish to appeal you must do so within 1 month of the decision notice using a GL24. It's also a good idea to check out the DLA appeal guides in the Members Section.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

;) I really do think your GP was not written to by the DLA Centre. This is what they do but lack of Medical Information means you can apply on these grounds. Good Luck :silly:

Can I ask if it is widespread that DLA centre refuse claims and say its based on a GP's report when in fact they have never asked for a report. I ask because my GP has been very supportive in my appeal against ESA refusal based on a fabricated medical and DLA centre refused me on this fabricated report and " a report from my GP". I've been embarrased to ask her about this report because in all other respects she has helped me a lot. Now I'm wondering if there ever was a report. Has this happened to anyone else?

The same thing happened to me with regard to a D.L.A claim ,I also have a good relationship with my G.P and when I enquired as to whether she had been contacted when my initial D.L.A claim was refused the answer was no.
I immediately contacted the D.L.A help line and requested a reconsideration,I also requested a full written report, and that all communications and supporting evidence to be returned in order to prepare for an appeal, at this time I was also informed it was up to the decision maker as to whether a G.P report is requested not a matter of policy.
Within a very short period of time (approx four weeks)their initial decision was overturned (apparently acting upon advice from their in house doctors)and I was awarded higher rate mobility. (A RESULT WITHOUT APPEAL)
