dla and esa

Hi

I recently applied for dla.. i have spinal stenosis in the lumber region and have now been diagnosed with same in upper back. neck..

i am waiting on mri to see extent and what can be done..

on a good day i can walk maybe 10- 15 steps before pain begins.. otherwise may only 1-2 steps..

my feet go numb and i cannot feel ground under them.. fun all the way..

i have had to reduce my hours at work..

has anyone else these problems and did you get any form of help..

I've shortened your Forum name, as most people prefer not to have their whole name showing on a public forum.

I'm sure other people will get back to you, but if what you say is accepted by the DWP you would certainly be eligible for higher rate mobility and would qualify for ESA.

Hi Pamela. I would apply for DLA get advice from your local council offices for an appointment with a welfare rights adviser. It is a well established point in DLA that any walking whilst in severe pain or discomfort is disregarded for DLA. Also use the extensive guides on this site, take your time to go through them and get as much supporting medical evidence as possible, you say you are waiting for scans well you should get copies of those scan results plus the written reports that will be with them.
