IB -- UP DATE was created by Helen 47
Hi ,
After waiting nearly 10 months for a reply my IB 50 form , i was then sent for a medical -which i went for in june .
I telephoned last Monday to Job centre plus to ask if i could have a copy of the medical . I couldnt belive it i recived the copy on Wednesday , (2 DAY'S)now i think that is what you call- been on the ball!!-ha ha .
I'm happy what the doctor has said .
Althou it does take a bit of understanding
with that ---agree and disagree stuff .
What i find more unusual is that i still dont now if i have been successfull in my claim .
i thought that i would recived the the
result from the claim 1st .
Is this normal .
Sorry if this is a bit long winded folks!!
I know i'm jumping the gun, but if the medical dr has suggested i will be better i 12month time , do you think i have been successful ???
Thankyou to any replies
Tilly T

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

If I understand your post correctly your claim is probably now with the Decision Maker who will look at all the evidence and arrive at a decision which you will receive via the post. The length of time to receive these decisions can vary from days to many months (as in your case) it seems to depend where you live and on the caseload.

Hi Tilly,
The length of time the doctor says before there will be an improvement isn't really an indication of whether you have been succesful. Even if the doctor had assessed you as scoring only a few points they would still have to assess how long before they thought you would improve.
It should be possible to work out from the report how many points the doctor assessed you as scoring, however. Decision makers usually, but by no means always, agree with the doctor's assessment.
But, in the end, I'm afraid you won't know for sure until you get the decision letter.
Good luck,
Steve

I have noticed in seveal posts that Atos Drs expect a subsantial improvement in functional ability within 12 month if appropriate treatment is given. My neuro nurse found this highly ammusing and not a little irritating. My Q is does this 12 month limit mean anything? Is it a way of limiting previous exemptions? I know as does the neuro team that I am unlikely to substantially improve and I hesitate to think the Atos Dr was quite so uninformed. Or is it a way of bringing current IB claimants into the ESA system?
