DLA

hi am new i need help i have been on dla a few years i have epilepsy and a very bad back cant walk that far part par down my right leg and i have had 6 op on my back now the dla have given me low rate mob and middle rate care so am up 4 a appeal they say it a domiciliary hearing so all the help i get would b help thanks.

there are guides to DLA appeals, including one entitled 'Appealing against a disability living allowance decision' which is well worth reading as it containd a lot of information about LA appeals.

As you have been permitted a domicilliary hearing (held in your home) the panel will be coming to visit you, which in some respects is quite good as they will be able to establish your care/mobility needs in your everyday setting and you may be more relaxed rather than it being held at a strange appeal centre.

Even though it is being held in your home, you still have the usual right to have a representative with you. If you haven't already , it maybe worth getting some face to face advice to go through your claim. In particular, as you already have an award, there is a small chance that what you have already been awarded could be either reduced or stopped. Therefore going through your claim with an experienced advisor face to face should try to negate that possibility.
