I didn't e-mail the EHRC, as again they wouldn't be able to take action because the person who set my scooter alight and the person who reported me to the DWP "shop a cheat line' couldn't be identified.

It is not action by the EHRC that is the point, it is evidence for their investigation into disability hate crime.

It's going to get a lot worse, apparently companies like Experian are going to be drafted in by the DWP.

DWP have been working with Experian and the like for years. From what my sister-in-law told me who works in HB. All those who are claiming to be single have their credit report checked to see if they have anyone else whose bank details/credit cards/ HP are registered with that address.
They will check the utilities of the address/es that the the claimant/partner being investigated live at. I assume to check usage for the number of people living in said property. (?) Do they have Sky tv, or any other luxuries they shouldn't be able to afford.
She did say that initially only the people who raised a file(possible fraud) would be checked, but it seems it's commonplace to check more now.

I remember when I had my problems with HB a few years ago I was called to their offices when I was accused of fraud.(I wasn't a fraudster) I had to bring my bank statements, utility bills, and a copy of my credit report, which I had to pay for, the cheek of it ! Guilty until I proved myself innocent it seemed.
When they (and no doubt half the office) saw my shameful report, which I was totally mortified about, I was allowed to crawl out of the door.

Once your job goes, so does your integrity, so it seems. :(

So sorry to hear your news re your scooter. How horrible! I am not surprised you are considering moving, and I really hope that goes well for you and Pat. Until the government and the media stop using us as whipping boys for their dreadful financial mess we shall hear more and more of this sort of thing. I have contacted my MP and written to newspapers, but haven't really got much hope of being 'heard'. Nil illegitimi carborundum, old chum! Best wishes, Lainie

Hi, Jima1, I really feel for you and pat all you are doing in life is trying to help people who are worse of than (or may not be as poorly as you) and you get all this thrown in your face. Before you decide to move if possible why not take a short break away with pat, (NO LAPTOP) have a few days rest we will miss you on this site but you both need a good break. I think for you to have to move would be very stressful to the pair of you. Best Wishes to you both.

Hi Jim,

Really sorry and disgusted to hear of your recent troubles. I hope you and Pat have the strength to move on from this. I can only imagine what is going on in your mind after moving to what you felt was a comfortable peaceful home where you could take benefit from being close to the sea given your condition.

14 years ago, because of my worsening illness and having to make a 50 mile round trip to work everyday, we decided to buy a house closer to work and rent our home out.
We borrowed money on our own home because the house we bought needed new windows and doors and a damp proof course. The very next day after having the work completed, we suffered a sectarian initimidation. That happened on a Wed and we were due to sign a rental agreement on the Fri with the person who was going to rent our home. My husband walked out of the house that morning and refused to return. The police refused to give us a certificate of intimidation and we were left with 2 mortgages for 12 months. I lost my job in the meantime because my condition worsened.

My husband took the police to court, he won his case but by the time the case came to court, we had sold the other property. On the grapevine we heard that the people who carried out the attack had a sister who wanted a house, and she wanted our house because it had been newly fitted with new windows etc, and their mentality was that if they intimidated us, we would get a certificate of intimidation, the local authority would buy our house and put her in it, she was well up the list.

In a way I am really glad that she wasnt able to get that house, even if we had to edure a lot of hardship for a while. But it it goes to show you Jim, there are MORONS everywhere and decent people are attacked so that these excuses for human beings can get their kicks.

At the end of the day, home is where the heart is, and you and Pat will know where your hearts are happy.

Keep your chin up, and the best of luck to you both.

Kathy xxx
