As someone who sometimes indulges in photography I have got quite good and would like to go somewhere with it and maybe start "earning" soemthing from them ... BUT I also have a chronic illness and am in receipt of benefits (Inc Ben, DLA, Rent& council tax ben, Inc Supp). Would this "work" fit the Permitted Work Rules, etc. and how would my benefits be affected? This is very different kind of work from say working at a checkout in a supermarket (which I would not be able to do)on a daily basis, as I only do it occasionally when able, I wonder how this would work? I expect this includes other occasional creative pursuites such as writing, etc. Any info on this subject would be useful.
This would count as self-employment and can be undertaken under the permitted work rules.
There's more in formation on permitted work in the Work section of the members area.
We can't offer any advice about how it would affect your benefits other than what's in the guides on the site. You definitely need to get a 'better-off' calculation done at an advice agency to see how earnings from self-employment may affect your benefits.
Good luck,
Steve
