Hi freefee,

Have a read of these BenefitsandWork guides on Managed Migration to UC. The second link is on FAQs.

Hi freefee,

What you are saying " i thought non means tested contribution based benefits were not migrating to universal credit but running along side " is correct. But the DWP have introduced the Claimaint Commitment for the new Conts based ESA which is called New Style ESA. So everyone now has to agree a Claimant Commitment. But if they are too unwell to travel this can be done over the phone ( though some Work Coaches have shown themselves to be obstructive ).

As with the old Conts based ESA the New Style ESA is deducted from means tested Benefits such as Universal Credit.

Hope this helps,
David

Hi freefee,

If you are under State Pension Age and currently have savings over £16000 then you don't receive means tested Benefits. You must then just qualify for Contributions based ESA. So in that case there will be no UC Managed Migration and you carry on getting your Conts based ESA.
It is claimants in receipt of Conts based ESA and who qualify for an Income based ESA top up that go through UC Managed Migration and then have their ESA changed to New Style ESA.

Hope this helps,
David
