How are benefits affected by pension was created by Anniebee51
I will be 60 next year and I have a small pension which is due to start being paid then. I am in ESA support group and have full PIP for both mobility and personal care. I am seven years into a ten year award. I need to know how my pension will affect my benefits. Can anyone help please. It is £3-4000 per year. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Anniebee51,

I need more information regarding your Benefits. If you rather not disclose this you could try yourself putting in the figures in a Benefits Calculator such as Entitledto.co.uk and that should indicate the effect of the pension.

Let me know how you get on.

Hi Anniebee51,

Did you manage to use Entitledto.co.uk to get a Benefits figure for when you are in receipt of the pension?
Or did you find it too difficult?

On new style and contributions based ESA the first £85 a week of pension income does not effect esa and any amount over this reduced ESA by half the amount over £85
For income related ESA ( a legacy benefit which was discontinued for new claims) there is no £85 a week allowance.
Pip is never effected by pensions and will not be reduced as it is not based on income
You should report the pension income to ESA but there is no need to do this for pip.
