ESA to universal credit was created by RB 1975
Hi this is my first time posting sorry if I make a mistake.
I was on esa and sdp, and Hab now I have the letter to transfer me to Uc. Even though I verified my id online I’ve been asked to attend a job centre interview, can’t do that as am housebound and find it hard sitting in my wheelchair.
They agreed to a home visit to check id. Now I’m told it could take months and I assume this will hold up me getting any money. I have to pay carers and rent and am very distressed. I made a complaint that was ignored in my journal, they said the back log for the home visit team was out of their control.
Can anyone advise as to what exactly to say word for word in my journal or elsewhere to get this moving again, I’m in West Devon.
Thanks in advance.

Hi RB 1975,
I would phone Citizens Advice Help to Claim service ( details below ) and ask them if they can arrange for UC to do a " Biographical Check " on your identity over the phone. They use the Benefits information that they already hold about you on their CIS Searchlight IT to verify your ID.
Let me know how you get on.
Call our national phone line
You can contact an adviser through our free Help to Claim phone service. Advisers are available 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday:
England: 0800 144 8 444
Scotland: 0800 023 2581
Wales: 08000 241 220
Call the Wales number if you’d like to speak to a Welsh language adviser.
Ask for a translator if you need to get advice in a different language.
Relay UK - if you can't hear or speak on the phone, you can type what you want to say:
Relay UK (England): 18001 then 0800 144 8 444
Relay UK (Wales): 18001 then 08000 241 220
You can use Relay UK with an app or a textphone. There’s no extra charge to use it. Find out how to use Relay UK on the Relay UK website.

Hi David
I contacted CAB by live chat and they helped me write a journal entry which triggered a job centre phone call to verify my ID there and then so it’s done, thanks so much I don’t know what I would have done without you and CAB.
Rachel.

Hi RB 1975,
That is interesting. Did they ask you questions which you then answered as part of what they call the Biographical Check ? Will help other members in the same situation.
Thanks for your feedback.
