Benefit claimants have an obligation to inform the DWP about any excursions outside the UK. The rules now cover reporting of "any past, present or future visits" to foreign countries, reports LancsLive. Recipients can spend up to a month abroad but must maintain a one-month presence within the UK between travels.
I’m not sure if correct info or a scare monger thing. Although DWP do say they’ll prosecute if you don’t keep them informed. I suppose it’s a risk you take if you don’t want to inform them.
Thanks for your feedback. However the rules regarding spending time abroad vary with the different Benefits. For ESA the rules can be found in the ESA regs 2008. But the regs do not specify the minimum time that has to be spent back in the UK. That is why I have advised getting specialist legal advice on the subject.
