Hi, I’ve just missed a call from DWP about my PIP. I sent my review in last December. The message said to clarify some points on my form - does that imply it’s a sneaky review call? They said they would call again in an hour but I am going to be on a train! Could this also mean they are doing a paper review as I’ve never had a call like this before? I did send lots of information and evidence and to be honest I have even more here as have further treatment and tests. Plus as you may remember, my husband died in June so that has caused chaos as he was my carer. Oh well, I will just wait and see what happens! What ever does happen, losing my husband has put everything into perspective and nothing the DWP do could be worse than losing my life long soul mate 😟

Hi Kevsue19

It's possible they are doing a paper-based review and just want to check a few details - but I can't say for certain. Some people have received that sort of call and then been told they still have to have an assessment. If you speak to them make sure that you mention the loss of your husband if they don't.

Thanks. I have wondered if it now comes up on my records that DWP is paying me widows benefit, although knowing these big departments usually the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing! I hope it is a paper one or they will get me crying down the phone ( they might just get that on a short call too!) And for anyone reading this , widow benefit is paid if your husband dies before retirement, he was 61 and ( without young children) it’s £2500 lump sum ( his funeral cost £6000) and £100 a month for 18 months. I will tell them I spend that on gin if they ask ( that is a joke!)
