I’m still confused about the fit note thing for Universal Credit claim, I’m Appointee for son who will be moving borough, he is in IRESA, LCWRA support group with severe disability premium and enhanced disability premium. He currently gets Housing Benefit. When he moves I will have to claim UC for him. In the relevant section of the form I’ll have to list his medical conditions, I understand there will be a question there about whether he has a 'fit note’ or not. I have a photocopy of an old ‘sick’ note (they weren’t called ‘fit’ notes then) which says ‘Indefinite’ so do I say yes he has a fit note or no he doesn’t ?
It is all about the timing, is your son able to wait for a transitional letter from DWP before moving? If he can then he would get transitional protection, if not he would loose out on the disability benefits.
The answer is yes, he has a sick/fit note, as he is in the support group, as long as his ESA claim does not stop, not even for one day, then he should be placed in the LCWRA group.
I would contact your local Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk , they will be able to take all his circumstances into consideration.
