Once you deplete your savings below the £16k figure is it possible to go from ESA conts to ESA income based.
Is it a simple process or do you need to reapply for ESA?

Hi synapse321,
You are allowed to apply for a top up of ESA income based to be added to your ESA conts as long as its the old type of ESA conts ( not New Style ESA ).
You cannot have new stand alone ESA income based claim.
As far as I remember you do this by phoning ESA and they post you out a paper form.

The top up part is classed as IR ESA (means tested), you will still keep your CB ESA.

Just to clarify once my savings go below the £16k threshold I can ask for the form.
I read somewhere that every £250 above £6k some much is taken off.
I don't remember the exact wording.
Could you please post the rules again for my benefit.

Yes you are correct about the deductions between £6000 and £16000. The deduction is £1 per week ( or £4.35 per month ) for every £250 above the £6000 threshold. If there is a portion of less than £250 then it still attracts a £1 per deduction.
