Dear fellow members and moderators,

I got a call from ESA, telling me my that because my PIP has been stopped as I did not return the PIP review form they were removing the severe disability premium from my esa !

I said it was a mistake surely as I still had a week to return the PIP review form.
But the ESA caller was adamant my PIP had been stopped, I thanked the caller and rang PIP.

I rang PIP and they had completely STOPPED MY PIP,
WITH NOT VALID REASON.

They said I had not returned the PIP Review Form by a certain date.

I said I never received the form with the returned date they were talking about.
That as instructed on the text message warning me they had sent me that review form, I called them to say I had not received it within 2 weeks of the text and they had sent me a replacement review form and the text and the PIP review form said the date was still about 1 week away.

But whoever was on the phone at PIP did not seem to understand a thing, and kept saying that because I had not received the review form they had stopped my pip.
I told them as instructed on the text I called them to say I had not received that form and that they had sent me another PIP REVIEW FORM and that form still gave a return date around 1 week away and they had no justification in having stopped my PIP.

You can imagine my shock when even when I was told I could still re-apply for PIP, I refused and said it was PIP mistake.
I was told they would ask a specific team to re-consider their decision and to possible re-instate my PIP, but that it was not their decision, implying they may decide to re-instate it or not.

Nobody seemed to be aware of the replacement PIP review form sent to me with still a return date a week away. Yet like I said, PIP sent me a text confirming they had sent me ‘ another ‘ PIP review form and the date I needed to return the form to them by.
Same as the replacement form showing the exact same deadline for them to receive the completed form, deadline which had not expired.

Luckily I was put on hold for them to speak to someone or a team, then they came back to tell my my PIP had been reinstated but it would still take 2 working days for my PIP to be re-instated.

When I first called PIP the automated message was giving me the next payment date but the amount was reduced ( as because PIP had been stopped, that small amount to come was the last amount of PIP left).

The full amount of PIP has been re-instated.
Also to double check, when ringing the PIP line before being transferred to anyone it was giving the full usual pip amount at the next due date.

For ESA, a nice operator said “ she would ask me questions there and then from an IS10, so that she could sent an IS10 in order to reinstate my ESA severe disability premium as there was a backlog.
I have been told my severe disability premium was reinstated, I still have to check my bank statement and tat the missing severe disability premium had been sent to me.

Does anyone think the fact my ESA Severe Disability Premium was cancelled and then reinstated will have an impact on my migration to UC in the next 2 months?
I forgot to ask ESA and cannot face to spend more than an hour to get through to them again.

Many thanks

Best wishes

Hi VIA

What a terrible time you have had. Many congratulations for sticking to your guns and getting your PIP and severe disability premium reinstated.

I don't think the cancellation and reinstatement will impact the UC migration, but I'm not the DWP, and they are the only people who can confirm that it won't. I understand why you don't want to phone them again after all you have been through, but they are the only people who can reassure you.
