Advice needed please - PIP award is due to end in August 2024 and claimant has submitted their review information, but this has not yet been processed by DWP. Claimant has been sent a housing benefit award letter which shows a reduction in entitlement from August (as the disability element has been removed from his applicable amounts in the calculation). If his PIP renewal is not processed in time will his housing benefit reduce as shown in the award letter due to loss of disability element? Or will it be extended until the outcome of the PIP review is known? Grateful for any advice please.
Unless he is given an extension, if his PIP claim stops then the disability element will also stop in his HB. If his PIP claim is successful then the disability element will be backdated.
He may want to contact DWP and ask if he will be given an extension, if he is given an extension then get it in writing and show the letter to his local authority.
