right leg below knee amputation claim advice was created by Kirstygrant24
After 3 appeals finally got my friend PIP, lower rate for care and mobility.
hes 6.5 foor and weights in around 14 stone, lost his right leg after an accident and infection. Hes had further bone removed in July and has taken a few falls. hes been given no aftercare and his prostetic is not settling and has not reverted to his wheelchair.
i need to get his PIP reviewed - any advice?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Kirsty,
It is down to your own personal choice really if you believe you should have it reviewed. As mods, we aren't allowed to give you any specific advice as such, but maybes some of the other claimants can?
Chris.

You don't mention a timescale for these events so it is difficult for us to help.
Unfortunately, losing a single foot (the legal requirement) does not automatically qualify a claimant for the Mobility component of PIP.
Assuming there are no problems with their Going Out then this is all about the distance they can walk, for the higher rate you will need to show that they cannot reliably walk more than 20m on the majority of days.
Have a look at our PIP Claim guide for more information.
