Private reports to support claims was created by Sheila Power
Just wondering if anyone else has seen a private consultant to obtain a medical report for an MRI and general impact of their condition and was this accepted by DWP
I'm about to make a claim for PIP and ESA but am on waiting list for orthopaedics, and pain management which I've been advised are over a year long. After reading the guidance and the importance of providing medical evidence I'm considering this course of action as don't have any consultants letters or up to date info on my condition, only minimal evidence from GP.

many thanks

Hi Dotty

Most private consultants work in the NHS, I do not see any issues in obtaining a medical report.

We do receive reports from members who have gone private mainly due to the waiting time.

Medical reports are useful, but quite often claimants do not have any as they are on a waiting list to be seen by a specialist. I know through my own experience that I have been told I am on a two year waiting list.

Afternoon,
I have just submitted medical information gleaned through the private route - At a cost of £220, I received a private consultation. I took all copies of NHS reports relating to my pain, (x rays, MRI's and blood tests carried out in the past few years). (all obtained for free via GP Practice)
The worst part was finding out that the GP practice had not acted 2 years ago on the last MRI or blood test results in relation to the spinal pain and had been somewhat negligent in my care, treating me as menopausal for 2 years - Note to anyone interested: HRT patches do nothing for RA or OA!
Successfully diagnosed and a continuing care/treatment plan was sent to the GP - this letter was forwarded to the DWP.
