Hello!

I ama new claimant for PIP, even though I've been suffering with my physical health, mental health and learning disabilities for over 10 years.

I finally decided to apply for PIP as my condition with my chronic back pain is getting worse which is effecting my anxiety and bringing on more and more panic atta ks. So I bit the bullet and filled out an application form which was sent to me online. I wish I would have waited for help filling it out as I missed so much information. However when I sat down and went through what I submitted with my mum I was able to call the PIP line and they very politely added the information about my difficulty walking and the aids I use to help with mobility and my dyselxia.

The day after submitting my form online I had this text:

"Hello from Independent Assessment Services. We conduct Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions DWP. This is for information purposes only, to let you know that we are managing your PIP assessment. We will look at the available evidence and will contact you with an appointment if we need to have a consultation with you. You can find information about the service we provide at www.mypipassessment.co.uk. You do not need to contact us"

This was last Tuesday, the day after submitting my online form.
I have scheduled muskoskeletal physio appointments to reassess me as my condition is worsening and therapist appointments coming up for my anxiety and frequent panic attacks ( these are daily). Should I send these to them too to back up my claim?

I know this is also a long shot but does anyone know the wait time for an assessment with IAS is currently? I'm bases in Middlesex. I'm very desperate to get independence in my life ( I can't use public transport due to mobility and my dyslexia) and to be able to take my daughter and be a proper mum who can take her where she needs to go and not rely on people not being at work or busy. It's so depressing, I feel I'm failing her. She is also Autistic with ADHD so she also can't read maps and follow directions so her going out independtly in a no no ( she's 11)

Thanks so much for any advise in advance.

I'm afraid they will not be interested in appointments that you have not attended yet, but if you do before an assessment is completed and there are letters to your GP documenting your conditions then you should definitely send a copy to the DWP office dealing with your claim and to IAS, the latter can be done by email.

As to timescales, IAS should carry out an assessment within three months although Christmas and the New Year might delay this.
