Hello

How can a new UC claimant check if their elements are correct before the assessment period ends?

Lady I’m helping with her UC application; was previously married and in receipt of ESA Support Group for 10 years.

She has applied for an advance and it appears that she has only received the following elements so far:

1) Single claimant
2) Childcare element x 2
3) Housing

She has a child in receipt of DLA (Highest Care) and she cares for him. She is also in receipt of ESA (Support Group). She has not received (we think):

4) severely disabled child element
5) provide care for at least 35 hours a week for someone who gets a health or disability-related benefit element
6) limited capability for work and work-related activity element

Is there a template she can use to check about these elements with UC? Does she write on her journal?

Many thanks

Hi Robinson_jon

I have answered your question in your previous post;
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-...ildcare-costs#284095

This post is slightly clearer, if your friend was still in receipt of ESA and in the support group when she applied for UC the the support element should transfer over to LCWRA on UC, if her ESA claim stopped even one day before she claimed UC then she will have to go through making a new claim.

We advise your friend to seek help from their local Welfare Rights Organisation so they can take in all the relevant facts.

You get a breakdown of UC when your friend receives first payment.
