Pip and turning 65 was created by Williejohn
Hi I have been on pip for several years and on march this year 2023 I was sent a review form which was completed and sent back Since then I have recently contacted pip to ask what was happening With my application, I was informed they had it and my hospital Letters etc. the chap I spoke to said that because and he stressed please listen carefully To what I’m saying. You are turning 65 in December and I can inform you this claim Will not be looked at until late November when you may get 1 years extension, Thus got me thinking my birthday is 6th December if I’m denied will I be able To appeal because after 64 you cannot apply? So I’m suspicious obviously. I should have started process few years ago as my health and abilities have decreased However I think the person I spoke to was trying to warn me That I’m going to be messed about. Regards. Hi Williejohn

There is nothing to be suspicious about, you are incorrect with your age date, it used to be 65 when you retired at 65 but now, state pension age is 66 going up to 67. www.gov.uk/state-pension-age

As your claim was made before you reached state pension age then you would still be allowed to appeal a decision after you reach state pension age. What you cannot do is make a new claim for PIP once you are of state pension age, you then have to apply for Attendance Allowance which has no mobility component.
