ESA success - but short dated was created by claireh18
I have just received a letter to confirm being placed into the support group for contribution based ESA, following a video assessment.
But, the award is only dated for a couple of months, until 27th November. I've been on ESA for many years, and usually the award is for a longer period. Can anyone shed any light?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Claireh18
That is very strange. The only thing you can do is ring the DWP and query it.

Hi claireh18,
I’m wondering if your award letter is the one showing the amounts you will receive up to 27th November, I think it might be because the following week, ie w/c 4th December the £10 Christmas Bonus is due to be paid and therefore your weekly entitlement is different for that week.
For some reason the DWP award letters don’t mention this rate change for this one week and instead seem to mislead people into thinking their claim is not payable beyond the end of November.
This is just a theory on my part so like BIS suggests it might be best to get the award period clarified with DWP for your peace of mind.
Regards
