Moving home with bedridden relative was created by chrisf-1
Hi everyone I will keep this as short as I can, My wife and I are no longer a couple but we both own the house and we live together amicably and independently of each other we are both OAP's my wife is on state pension I am on state pension, pension credit, and PIP, about 3 years ago my mother in law became incapable of looking after herself at 90 years of age so we took her in she receives state pension, pension credit and attendance allowance,. We are moving shortly to a bungalow about 50 miles by road away and under a different council at the moment we are in Medway and will be moving to Swale both of which are in Kent. I have made enquiries about transporting my my mother in law who is now bed ridden at 93 years old, we cannot get her in a car and she could not make the journey in a car as she passes out if she sits upright for more than a few minutes, can anyone tell me how we are supposed to get her there everyone in authorities I have spoken with says we will have to pay for a private ambulance surely this cannot be right, advice greatly appreciated

Hi chrisf-1

I'm sorry to hear of the situation you find yourselves in. Unfortunately, your question is outside the scope of this forum. I'm sure you have - but have you tried talking to your GP?

Most of the voluntary transport services don't have suitable transport available for people who are bedridden -but I don't know whether the hospital transport services in your area transport from one private home to another.

I hope you find a suitable solution.
