UC income deductions was created by buxbunny
Hi
I have been asking this question with UC and DWP ministers but can't seem to get a straight answer.

My understanding is that child tax credit (payment get first to kids) rolled into UC as just child payment.
Also additional payments relating to disability such as disability premiums is substituted as disability payments.

I also understood on legacy benefits these were not means tested so you didn't have to declare change of income.

But on UC they are all rolled up into the deductions calculations so doesn't that make you worse off on UC or am I missing something?

Hi buxbunny

I have read your post a few times and I am not sure what you are asking.

Child tax credits will stop once you claim UC, you will be able to claim Child tax credits depending on your circumstances.

When you talk about disabilities are we talking about yourself or your children?

I would advise you to seek help from your local Welfre Rights Organisation who will be able to take all your circumstances into consideration when giving you accurate advice. advicelocal.uk

I'm talking about the equivalent payments rolled into UC
Child tax credits is just Children payments in UC
Disabled Children payment but unsure what legacy benefit that is replacing.

My question is are they now all means tested?

Hi buxbunny

Child element in UC is different to Child Tax Credits.

Disabled Child Element in UC comes in two bands High rate if the child receives DLA high care and low rate if the child receives DLA low or medium care component.

Yes, UC is a means tested benefit.
