Hello.

Had my assessment 2 weeks ago which I feel went awful , received the report today and HP has given me enough points to stay on enhanced for both which was a surprise . This was my first time having an assessment do the DWP DM usually go with the report or can they change it? How long is it taking to make decisions. I’m so anxious about it all and won’t be able to breathe until I see the decision.

Thanks

Hi s,

In my personal opinion, not always. I've seen myself have to go to the tribunal stage twice and contest what is on the report, despite it sometimes being contradictory. Hopefully if they've awarded you enough points, the DWP decision maker will award in your favour, but you can never guarantee it until you actually see the decision on paper. I can't say for definite how long it takes to receive your decision, as times vary but mine was within 8 weeks.
I started my MR for PIP on 20th June 2023, it was declined the following month, so I sent my paperwork straight to the courts for a tribunal, and I've just literally found out this afternoon that it's been re-awarded to me again, so this time scale may help as towards giving you a bit of an idea.

Regards, Chris.

Thanks for the response I’m sorry to hear of your experiences. It’s very stressful I’ve cried everyday since having the assessment worrying about it all. I’m pleased to hear you had a good result. I hope I don’t have to wait much longer but I know there are huge backlogs. Thanks again

Hi Rainbow,

It can be a very emotional experience, but you've done your best, and as difficult as it is, all you can do is wait. It can really affect your morale worrying - and there's nothing you can do until you get your outcome, so my advice, chillax as best as you can, get the vino out, and put on a comedy to give you a giggle.

Regards, Chris.

Hi Rainbow,

I am in the same position, I recieved my HP report which suggests awarding enough points for PIP but I am yet to hear from DWP. I really am hoping that they use the HP's suggestions for their decision. I've read plenty that makes it seem the HP report is one of the biggest hurdles so I remain positive.
It's been 3weeks since my assessment.
