Will this be a problem ? was created by Frogman
My wife was born with a rare bone condition....she has never claimed PIP but now she's getting older she has started to have problems so she has applied. The problem is there is no cure or treatment for her condition so she has not been a constant visitor to the Dr's and has managed the condition with over the counter pain meds and supports, the only evidence that she had was a letter from a consultant in 1981 saying she has the condtion I should imagine that her GP has all the relevant information, there is no mention of the condition she has on any NHS web site and support for it is non existant...will all this go against her PIP application ?

Hi Frogman
It is not the condition per se that the DWP is concerned with; they are concerned how a condition impacts a claimant's daily life and/or mobility as per the PIP criteria. I hope you managed to find out information from a reputable website and include it. It doesn't have to be the NHS - even overseas websites. If your wife has a rare condition, don't expect them to understand it, or research it. I hope you used the advice in the guide to complete the form and followed some of the suggestions for submitting your evidence. Did you try to get a letter from the GP before submitting the form? If you didn't submit any recent evidence - they may contact your wife's GP, but you won't have any control over what your GP says.

Thanks for your reply.....we have recently changed GP's but I should imagine that all the relevant details should be in her medical records so I don't see how our new GP can say anything but she has the condition. I did use the guides and they were very useful.
