How to ask for PIP reconsideration after re-assesstment? (from 12 to 0 points) was created by JK2019
My PIP reassessment was refused nearly 40 days ago.
I didn't receive the decision letter until today.(I called them many times and was told it will be ok if it arrives later than one month).
I was claiming PIP for multiple conditions for 7 years.I had 2 reviews and both past reviews were successful with 8 points daily activity and 4 points mobility.
however this time they gave me 0 points.
the decision letter I receive is called PIP 7013.
it just says based on the information they have they can't award me PIP ,showing descriptors and 0 points for each.
then it goes on and simply dismissing the problems I explained.without any explanation or reason.
eg : you said you have problems with this task,I decided you can do it.
my question is,how do I ask for reconsideration? as there is no reasoning or explanation why think I can do the activities that I can explain.
is this the correct letter they sent me for requesting reconsideration?

There are guides to MRs and appeals in the PIP section.
Have you requested a copy of the assessor's report? if not then call the PIP Help Line.
You can make a late request for an MR citing the late delivery of the Decision Letter as Good Cause.
I would start by looking at the points that you scored last time and why you did, are there any differences in the way that you described your problems this time to last?
If you can provide more specific examples we may be able to help more.

Thank you for the response, the assessor's report arrived separately for some reason.
I actually posted a new thread with questions about mandatory reconsideration before this reply was published.
it's really overwhelming.

Hi JK2019 - Like a lot of people applying for PIP, I would imagine that you'll probably have to keep proceeding all the way to the tribunal stage. I had standard award for Mobility and Daily Living awarded in 2022 by the courts, and the DWP have declinded me both just in June, despite none of my circumstances changing. I have been at the tribunal stage since July, but still awaiting a decision. It can be a long, overwhelming process, but unfortunately, you just have to keep going on. Stay strong. Chris.

There was no difference in the way I described my problems.in fact I used the exact same form from past, since my conditions and their effects remained exactly the same.
and of course I used the guides from here to complete it.
the only difference is that my past 2 assessments were face to face (pre-covid) but this one was over phone.
it's clear this HP didn't want to accept them and DM simply accepted HPs opinion.
as an example HP referred to one of the medications as "first line low dose" but it is in fact the second highest dose of that medication.
or HP completely ignored my old MRI scan and the fact that such condition isn't reversible once you have it you have it.
in short when someone has an agenda they can interpret things the way they want.

I was in exactly the same position as you in relation to a telephone assessment, and being declined, despite nothing with my situation changing. I do know though, that once you get past the MR stage, and go to the courts, you can upload additional evidence online, and they supply you with a reference number. I had quite a lot of paperwork, so ended up sending mine by post, but I got a letter off them several weeks later informing me of all the information that they had uploaded, and I registered online with the courts website, and I am able to view, and update my current claim. I think unfortunately like most people, you have to keep fighting till the very end. Chris.
