Thankyou Mods,

I first applied for PIP last August 2022 and the DWP taking my claim from 1st Sep 2022, after navigating the advice for somebody who was earlier this year listed for a phone assessment, then a video type assessment, neither of which conducive to my impaired functioning. My MH support worker later negotiated a face to face under the Equally Act etc which took place 10/7/'23. But they were unavailable for the assessment nor could a family member who was unfortunately out the country.

So I had to attend pip assessment on my own in a absolute state of severe mental distress with which the assessor asked if I wanted to terminate it due to my distress etc. Don't know how but plucked up courage to carry on for the 1hr 40/45 mins.

Still affected by the experience a few weeks later. Then a bit prior to 4th August got DWP letter "we have enough info to make decision etc". Then 4/8/2023 the other one arrived and I was absolutely afraid to open it and finally opened it on the Sunday with surprise that they give me enhanced living and standard mobility plus a huge backpay from 1/9/22 through to 27/7/23. Oh and an ongoing award for 10yrs till July 2033 which I never expected or even knew they could award pip for that long. Was bit disappointed with the standard mobility but it nearly killed me just applying for pip!!! Don't have the mental strength to appeal etc.

Quick query, although they've paid the backpay that doesn't give a simple breakdown just the owing amount, would I be eligible to claim the PIP £150 from last years cost of living 2022 and the one from which people were supposed to get just recently2023 as its independent of the PIP benefit?? Looked at the link in the news section but doesn't work. So will write to DWP if you think I'm eligible.

Once again to all the mods, members, thank you for your invaluable advice as without access to this website and pip guides etc and the ESA guides when I utilised them, I'd be in a place that does not bear thinking about...

Sorry for the length of my post..

Hi Dalglish60

Many congratulations on your PIP award. I'm sorry you didn't get the enhanced award for mobility. You did so well going by yourself for that face-to-face assessment. I'm glad to think you now have an ongoing award of ten years - well done.

I honestly can't tell you whether you will be awarded the backdated cost of living - you will have to ask the DWP.
