ESA banking letter was created by blandie
My partner is in receipt of ESA support and received a letter today from jobcentreplus regarding banking. She was last reassessed in 2017 and has not had a form since.
'Your Claim for Employment and Support allowance
Bank/building society name
We also hold an account number/sort code but for secrurity reasons they have not been included in this letter.
We will pay your allowance into the above account from July 2023.
Then a load of details about if you change banks you must tell us etc...'
This seems like such an odd letter to receive and I wondered if anyone else got one?
Thank you

ESA correspondence is awful and can even be sent in response to non-existent changes to a claim.
Are the amounts different from what you are currently receiving? If they are then you will need to contact the DWP for an answer but if the same then I would just file the letter.

Thank you very much, Graham. The letter does not state any amounts but her next payment is due next week so I will update when I know if she gets the same.
Many thanks for your reply.

Several years ago when I was speaking to someone at the DWP about an "out-of-the-blue weird" letter, I asked why it happened. She told me if a DWP employee opens a claimant's record either deliberately or mistakenly, it will generate a letter unless they click on a particular box in the record. So if it was a mistake and they are rushed or busy or just forget, a letter gets sent out. I dread to think how much these mistakes cost over the course of a year.
